There’s an old adage which says, “Pride comes before the fall”. Did you know that’s actually based on several verses in the Bible? Here are two of them found in Proverbs 16…
 
* “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Prov. 16:18)
* “The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.” (Prov. 16:5)
 
As you and I look around our world, do we see widespread pride, especially in many who are in leadership roles? But we must be honest with ourselves…as we look in the mirror, do we see any evidence of pride in us? I’m drawn to Psalm 139:23,24 today which says: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
