When was the last time someone said something to you which left you so stunned you were speechless? Yesterday we watched that happen as Peter confronted Jesus! What, you might ask? Yes, Matthew, who was an eyewitness, records it this way: “Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed, and on third day be raised to life.” (Matt. 16:21) It was stunning news, but Peter took action. Matthew records this: “Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke Him. ‘Never Lord! This shall never happen to You!”
