“Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open and all the prisoner’s chains came loose.” (Acts 16:26) I presume that means the anchors in the dungeon walls, to which the prisoner chains were attached, broke free from the walls, as did leg stocks and other things. Suddenly the prisoners were loose and the door flung open!
